A Day Designed Just for You on Your 73rd Birthday!!

Over the years, your sons and your husband have taken many trips together - Arkansas duck hunting, Montana for mule deer, and Atlanta for the Porsche driving experience. A few years back you mentioned you were happy we did these things with our father, but that you sometimes feel left out as the only woman in the family.

On Friday, it’s your turn!

For your 73rd birthday, I am taking you on a trip to check an item off your bucket list. See below for more details. This day is paid in full. All you have to do is be delivered to various spots throughout the day. The day’s full itinerary is below. Scroll down to read all about it.

Round Trip Airfare to New York City…First Class of Course!

You and I will fly first class from Dulles to LaGurdia. Morning coffee, mimosas, whatever you want. Our flight leaves at 8:15, and dad has agreed to drive us to the airport at 6 am. No checked luggage. No carry on. Just get on the plane and enjoy the 45-minute flight to LaGuardia!

Luxury Sedan Service Direct to Columbus Circle

Upon arrival at LaGuardia we will be met by Carmel sedan service, used regularly by Lauren and Rachael. Our personal sedan will deliver us directly to Columbus Circle on the southwest corner of Central Park where we will have lunch on the southern edge of Central Park.

Fine Italian Dining at Marea

This is the story of rarified worlds colliding to create a modern and chic institution. At Marea, the authentic, bracing flavors of coastal Italy meet the style and swagger of New York to form a new kind of gusto. Marea charts the tide for restaurant culture, with exquisite food and unmatched service that set the stage for an experience like no other.

An anchor of Central Park and New York City icon, Marea attracts those who don’t chase luxury, but who live it-by elevating life’s moments, indulging their senses, and celebrating every day with the best food, service, and surroundings in the world.

Marea is the recipient of the 2010 James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant, three stars from The New York Times, was named Best New Restaurant by Bon Appetit, Esquire, and GQ Magazines and was also named NYC’s Best Italian Restaurant by Zagat.

And Finally, the Reason We’re Going All the Way to NYC

The Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular!!

At 2 pm we will see the very first show of 2023’s Christmas Spectacular season.

Post-Show Treats

After the show is done, we will walk one block down Sixth Avenue to “the world’s most famous bakery,” Magnolia Bakery, which makes Georgetown Cupcake look like amateur hour. Hopefully the lines won’t be too long.

The Return Trip Home

After the show, we should have some time to grab a coffee or a snack before our private sedan picks us up for the trip back to LaGuardia. Our sedan picks us up at 4:30, about an hour after the show ends. With the expectation lunch will have us full for a while, we’ll grab something to eat at the airport.

Our flight home from LaGuardia is at 7:48, so we’ll need to be at the airport around 5:30 to give us time to get through security and find something to eat before our flight. We will again fly first class, and dad will pick us up at the airport.
